HANNAH RAE
Hannah Rae is a British textile artist based in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Working primarily with hand stitch and sculptural textiles, her practice explores uncertainty, transformation and the search for balance through processes of making.
Her recent work draws upon personal experiences of illness, recovery and change, using slow accumulative stitching as both method and metaphor. Soft sculptural forms become sites where memory, endurance and repair are held within cloth, inviting reflection on how we adapt to shifting identities and altered bodies.
Rooted in an autoethnographic approach, Hannah's practice considers how asymmetry, disruption and not knowing can generate new forms of understanding. Through textiles, sculpture and installation, she creates works that seek equilibrium not through restoration, but through the emergence of new relationships and ways of being.
Hannah completed an MA in Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts in 2024.
